leave at too much to guess and the worry cracks a fracture from your hip to your chest lexin's eyes snapped open and he jolted with awareness. it took him several, panicked moments to recognize where he was before his body surrendered the emotion and he fell back against the tree he had been leaning on exhausted. the swamp was bone-chillingly silent around him. nothing stirred, nothing moved, nothing breathed. however, that was to be expected. no living creature would show itself to him when he was in this state. it was instinctive, and they were right. the air around him was dangerous with the promise of death should anything come too close. but he couldn't help it.
he was hungry.
and not the kind of hungry he liked. he had eaten earlier that day, but fed? no, he hadn't had a good feeding in awhile. lex released a shuddering breath at his own neglect. it wasn't uncommon for him to go through periods where he would starve himself, but truthfully, this hadn't been one of them. he had just been so caught up in his travels, in his work, that he honestly hadn't noticed the signs. so when the hunger came over him he was taken by unfortunate surprise.
lex, realizing he was missing his gear looked around in a dazed panic, trying to spot the canvas sack he had brought with him. spotting it, he let go of the breath he had been holding and relaxed against the tree once more. at least he had been on the trip back home when his instincts overwhelmed him. had this happened on the front half of his trip, he may have had more of a problem on his hands. the swamp was no place for a bunch of metalwork pieces, especially ones that had been custom ordered. the ground beneath him was moist. the swamp, in general, was just a wet place. definitely not a good environment for his pieces.
the vampire closed his eyes but did not release his consciousness. he needed to find blood and fast. though he wouldn't die without it, at least not at this point, he was very apt to lunge onto the first person he saw and suck them absolutely dry. lex really hoped that it wouldn't come to that. he didn't particularly like inconveniencing others and really didn't like to kill them in his thirst. there were actually very few times that he got the opportunity to feed on human blood anymore. the communication required really just wasn't possible for him - he didn't have enough vocal power to ask and few people took a whispering man very seriously or with very much vigor. despite the fact that the whisper was about as hard on his vocal chords as screaming was for most people, most people didn't realize that. his only real hope at this point was that some animal would show itself, and that he'd be able to catch it. he needed to sate his hunger before he went back into town, or things would get particularly messy. tagged: open • words: 497 • notes: have fun with a hungry vampire

[My post looks so simplistic compared to your's o.o]
Temperance was in a happy mood.
The demon races across the squishy, mossy earth, loving the squelching sounds beneath her feet. Her long black hair streams out behind her in waves, like silky black ribbons. Sharp onyx eyes that match are closed in her mirth and a blissful smile spreads across her features. She was feeling bubbly, and even though she felt odd without her twin brother's constant presence beside her, she felt like going on an adventure. So what time is it? Yeah, 6:28 P.M. What else?
Suddenly, out of the blue, comes along an unfamiliar scent. Her tongue snakes out. A masculine scent greets her. A boy was near...yet he smelled...strange. This makes her come to an abrupt halt. Her eyes flash open to narrow in thought. Should she follow this peculiar scent that could give her the very adventure she was so craving? Or should she thwart possible danger and ignore it? There was only one answer for this fiery demon!
She turns in the direction of where it came from and begins to walk. Temperance was never a smart one when it came to horror-film like scenarios. She's the one who says "I'll be right back!", the one who chases down the killer, the one who says everyone should split up. Makes sense she would want to investigate. I wonder if the boy is okay? She wonders to herself. She didn't smell blood though, nor sickness, so she doubted the boy was in any immediate harm. She cocks her head slightly to the side. Maybe he's psychotic!!!!! The thought pops up in her head...and a dangerous smirk spreads across her features. Then this adventure will increase ten fold in fun!
"Off I go!" She yells to herself, albeit too loudly to be just to herself, and she sets off into a jog in search of this mystery boy. She couldn't wait to see what this guy was like. She hoped he was crazy. She hoped he was good looking. And she hoped he could fight. Fighting with a hot, crazy guy? What could be better to add to an adventure?

leave at too much to guess and the worry cracks a fracture from your hip to your chest something stirred beyond his awareness and lex opened his eyes blearily. the thirst ate at him from the core. the air chilled him to the bone - it was a feeling he was not very well acquainted with, but he had not the energy to sustain a comfortable body temperature or start a fire. the silence around him was eerie, though lexin didn't really have the right to judge. it was only that way because of him. swamps, for as ominous as they were on a normal day, still crawled with life if one knew where to look. there was none of it present in that moment. the frogs didn't croak. the birds didn't stir. not so much as a cicada made any sound to allude to its existence.
that's when he heard it.
well, he wasn't really sure what it was - his mind too frenzied to discern the words - but he knew he heard something. it echoed in the emptiness, but lexin would have most likely heard the sounds regardless. in his hunger, all of his senses worked on overdrive if only to find something, anything, to sate him. he furrowed his brows as he tried to push down the urge to hunt. he was getting desperate. he could feel his pallor changing with the seconds. his mouth dry, his fangs slightly elongated from their normal state.
that's when he sensed her.
what the hell was she doing, coming closer? either she was delusional or... she was delusional. lexin could feel her presence in the vicinity. she held a demonic aura very similar to his own, she obviously knew of his presence, shouldn't she know better? lex had no doubt in his mind that he would attack her should she give him the opportunity - if not out of pure desperation than out of self defense.
lexin had no idea who she was. her presence was foreign to him. for the same matter, he didn't have much of an idea as to what she was either. he could discern enough to realize that she was much like him - if not a vampire than in the same family of beasts. however, there was something about her that he couldn't put his finger on, and frankly, the starved vampire didn't have the mental capabilities for such a laborious task. chances were, she was just a demon of some sort. all of them felt different and yet they weren't at all. but what was a demon doing out here in the middle of nowhere?
lex didn't know why, and he didn't particularly like it. he was far too vulnerable, and there was too high of a chance of potentially lethal conflict. no, he didn't like this at all. tagged: tempie • words: 459 • notes: no worries! i don't mind :3

She finally comes upon him, appearing from behind a twisted tree just a little ways in front of him. That smirk, that almost seems deranged in this situation, falls at the corners just a tad bit before stretching wide again. Yes, in truth this boy was quite the looker...his scent, now very strong, pulls her up short though. Her intense onyx eyes quickly flit over his body and soon fall on his mouth. Why hadn't she realized it sooner? Sure it had been nearly half a century since she had last sensed one, but the scent of a hungry vampire was very distinct. This was no longer a mere adventure...
This became the high light of her year! This guy could be super strong!
Secretly she wishes that he will attack so that she can test her might on a deranged vampire. She heard they were very strong. She would know. She gingerly touches the scar across her chin that lightly disfigures her bottom lip. That was a fresh memory, one of her younger days when she assumed she could take on a ravenous vampire. Sure she managed to drive the stake into its heart and destroy it, but not without it getting a few good whacks at her as well. She was lucky it didn't bite her when it grabbed her face. She blinks the memory away before returning her unflinching gaze upon him. She takes a step forward, the sound like the blare of a horn. It seems every move she makes was as if she were setting off fireworks, it was so silent.
And good thing Temperance always knows how to break the silence!
"Oh man, you've got the 'fevah'!" Comments the demonic female in her boisterous voice, "How long has it been since you last eaten, vampie? That's dangerous, y'know." She leans against her twisted tree and puts a hand on her hip.

leave at too much to guess and the worry cracks a fracture from your hip to your chest lexin knew that she was there before he actually realized she was there. he kept his eyes shut as if hoping that would calm the hunger. he really was not in the mood for scrapping it out, which the newcomer seemed determined to do. well... actually he was in the mood but he was trying his hardest not to be. lex feels the growl in his throat, but the sound is hollow, is vocal chords unable to comply. her presence was driving him crazy. why couldn't she just take the hint and leave?
the sound of her voice in his ears caught his attention and his eyes snap open in response - immediately locking on the demon. his mouth hung slightly open and he felt beads of sweat develop on his brow. lexin ignored her words. whatever she had said, he wouldn't have been able to respond to even if he had the ability to speak. so he simply glares at her, partly out of his thirst, and partly to get her to leave. it had been awhile since he had battled it out with a demon. they were tricky creatures and always seemed to have another trick hiding up their sleeves. not to mention, he probably wouldn't make her very happy by feeding on her. demons fed too, even if the reason was slightly different the process was the same.
the vampire's brows furrowed in frustration. he pushed his back against the tree he was sitting against and grasped at some of the loose grass on the ground with his hands. if she got any closer, lex didn't know if he could keep himself off of her. he was already having trouble as it was. the only thing keeping him from lunging at her, he had no doubt, was the distance in between them. even the crazed vampire within him knew that the distance was too far to safely travel out in the open like that.
this is what he got for being careless. it wasn't like he meant to starve himself. truthfully, if he had been paying attention to the signs, he had plenty of opportunities to feed on his travels. hunting animals in the woods was not difficult with the practice he had. earlier that day he had been traveling through forests. had he not been so distracted by other, albeit far more trivial, matters he definitely would not have been stuck in this situation. tagged: tempie • words: 407 • notes: no worries! i don't mind :3

Suddenly a pout replaces the smirk on her face. Looks like there would be no banter between the two. She had expected as much. Hungry vampires don't tend to diddie daddle with words. A long sigh escapes her and she pushes herself off the tree, standing at attention in front of him. She had a soldier's persona, completely straight back unwavering gaze. Not that she was a soldier, she was way too...human for such a noble occupancy. She turns her back to him, which in retrospect isn't the best option when confronted with a vampire. Not that she cared. She could hear every breath he took, every move he made. She could hear the snaps as grass breaks in his fists. Why hadn't he striked already? Why dd it seem as if he were trying to control himself? Well, she'd get him talking, one way or another. I make up my mind!
She twirls back to look at him again, a brilliant smile on her slightly scarred face, "I'ma help'ya, vampire boy!" In the next second, she is gone, having disappeared to the left. All that is left is her lingering scent of smoke and the indents in the soggy grass from where she stood. Many moments pass by before there is a rustling noise to the right of him. Out of the blue comes Temperance, carrying a freshly deceased bird. It was of above average size, not at all colorful, with a longer beak than other birds. Temperance didn't know her birds all that well, so she couldn't put a name on it. She smiles when her onyx eyes land on the vampire and she says in an almost moderate voice, "Here you go. You can suck the blood from birds, right? Mind the feathers though, they are quite the pest." She tosses the thing over to him and wonders if he'd actual do it. She was going to bring back a fish for him, but at the scent and sight of those disgusting things she quickly felt sympathy and changed her mind. Even Temperance wasn't that cruel, and she wanted to start out on a good note with this guy. He seemed pretty cool. "You can thank me by not biting me. I would not enjoy that."
I wonder what would happen if he did bite me though....would I turn into some weird hybrid? Would I die? What if I turned into a...vampeamon?! It'd probably hurt though, and ravenous vampires don't tend to stop drinking...not a good idea. Just keep your distance, then. She thinks to herself, bringing a hand to her chin to rub it thoughtfully.

leave at too much to guess and the worry cracks a fracture from your hip to your chest lexin wouldn't lie and say that he didn't relax when the demon left the premises. her words confused him. how would she help him? if anything, he was expecting her to attack him. there was something about the demon that was off - or maybe just slightly strange. she was far too comfortable with him there. maybe she was just confident enough in her abilities. maybe she just had a death wish. either way, lex didn't particularly care. she just wasn't there, and he could suffer without worrying about a knife at his throat.
her return a bit later was not met without a slightly menacing glare. he hadn't realized she was holding a fresh kill until she tossed it at him. wow, she really did manage to help him. gingerly, as to not look to eager, lex plucked some of the feathers away from the bird's neck. yes, he could have just bit down and fed all the same, but bits of feather were a little tough to get out from between his teeth. the kill was fresh and he felt his demeanor shift and his eyes turn crimson red before biting down into the carcass.
there was something to be said about feeding. he lost all awareness of everything that wasn't his meal and yet he was hyper aware. his senses worked on overload. lexin could hear the demon's heartbeat from where she was standing. every movement she made he sensed, he didn't have to see. he could smell the lingering adrenaline from her kill, the rot of the bird between his teeth. if the vampire was of clear mind, he probably would have assumed it to be a survival instinct. kills were hard to come by and one couldn't afford to have them taken away. however, his mind was too foggy, too shrouded in his primal hunger, to make the connection.
as he fed, lex slowly was able to reign in the urge to kill and the need for blood. as his senses returned to him and him alone, he separated his mouth from the neck of the bird and wiped his mouth on his sleeve - careful to keep wary eyes locked on the demon watching from afar. he couldn't help but to raise an eyebrow as she spoke again. bite her? why would he do that now? he was quite sated. was she afraid of him turning her? it wasn't like he could without her consent anyway, not that lexin was very positive that he would have even if she had asked him. he didn't fancy the idea of siring a hoard of turned vampires - especially not turned vampires who also happened to be demons. he wasn't even sure it would have worked had he tried. had the two of them exchanged blood to initiate the change, he doubted that she would change at all.

She watches in fascination as Lexin feeds on the bird she killed. She has never watched a vampire eat before. It wasn't all that different from how she fed on human life force, but she didn't really like the taste of blood. She imagined that is different with him, no matter what he says. Once he is done, she sees him eyeing her warily, as if she'd strike or something. Why would she go through the trouble of hunting down a creature for him only to try to kill him? She would have done it when he wasn't in full control of his thoughts! Well, that's what she'd like to think. She did like fair fights...but vampires were not to be reckoned with.
She wanted to see what this guy was like, then judging on his actions, if she'd challenge him to a fight or not. He hadn't attacked yet...so why should she? She smiles, something she hoped look comforting, and says, "Don't get so worked up, I ain't gonna mess with ya'. I just like helping out people in need." Oh, yup, that was so her first thought. She puts a fist on her hip and cocks her head slightly to the side, "So, can I know the name of the vamp I just helped out?" She asks bluntly.

leave at too much to guess and the worry cracks a fracture from your hip to your chest there was something within the demons words that lexin was sure if he trusted or not. she didn't seem to be lying - either she wasn't, she was just that good at lying, or she was lying to herself as well. all of them seemed equally plausible. however, there was something he saw behind her eyes that prompted him to keep his guard raised. he knew that look. that look was dangerous. she wasn't yet sure what she wanted to do with him and lex didn't doubt that demons were capable of more menace than he gave them credit for. her next words made his blood run cold, but not for the reason he had initially been expecting.
why in the seven hells did she expect him to speak?
oh that's right, because it was a normal assumption that everyone spoke, or at least had the capability. instinctively, lex reached a hand up to his throat where he felt the familiar scars along his neck. he couldn't reply to the demon despite the fact that she had asked him such a simple question. he wondered if she'd catch the hint - the subtle body language. she had been pretty good at reading him so far, so would she catch that? hopefully. if not, lex might have a fight on his hands after all.
it was around that time that all traces of the thirst finally left him. habitually, the vampire expanded his consciousness throughout his element. if he could get something on her, anything that could just tell him a bit more, he might feel a little bit better about his situation. then again- oh wait. lexin cocked an eyebrow questioningly. she was a fire elemental? he felt her presence within his own elemental scope in the way that could only mean she shared his element. curious. tagged: tempie • words: 307 • notes: eww, this is a horrid post, my apologies

[Haha, no worries!]
Temperance's onyx eyes widen a fraction before returning to their regular position. She sees him touch his neck and it clicks in her head. She could make out the scars and nods, "Ah, I see. Can't speak, huh? That's a shame. Would say I'm sorry but I'm sure you don't want a stranger's pity. Guess I'ma have to just keep callin' you 'vampie' until further notice, then." She takes a few steps forward, but not in a menacing way. She was tall for a girl, reaching 5"10 give or take. She has long ebony hair that matches the hue of her irises, and it extends to the small of her back. She is wearing an expensive looking coat of different furs, some fox, some cat and some wolf. It's very big on her, hiding her true figure in its baggy folds...and anything else she might have on her. She could have a meat cleaver for all he knew, masked by her coat. She didn't, of course, why would she when she could make weapons appear out of nowhere? Her trousers are made from simple brown cloth, the same that stable boys wear. It looks so odd with her aristocratic coat that many people double take when they see her. All of this leads down to her completely bare feet, toenails trimmed to perfection unlike her fingernails, which were filed to a dangerous point to assist in battle. It was surprising that her feet weren't covered in cuts and bruises, but she is a demon. Nature would have to be a heck of a lot stronger to wound her!
She offers him a gentler smile, scarred lips parting to show teeth. It was rare to see her smiling with a closed mouth, she preferred grinning. "Well, vampie, I'm Temperance Cassandra Baron!" She pronounces her middle name with a long 'a' sound after the two 's's. "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance!" She moves forward a bit more and holds out her hand for him to shake. That was how she was taught to greet strangers when giving her name by her mother. She never really understood the silly expression but did it anyway out of respect for her deceased mother.

leave at too much to guess and the worry cracks a fracture from your hip to your chest lex cocked his eyebrows in question, but kept his facial expression, for the most part, neutral. he supposed that he had been called worse things than 'vampire' over the years. people seemed to like calling him 'demon' or 'demon spawn' in all its irony. there were very few things between him and the demon in front of him that could be considered similar and surely not enough to mistake him for. then again, maybe he was just being snobbish and it didn't really matter what people thought of him anyway. it wasn't like he really cared anyway.
as she introduced herself, lexin could help but to be taken aback by her enthusiasm. when she shoved her hand out in his direction, presumably for him to shake like normal people do, he just kind of sat there and stared at it for a moment before stiffly standing up. keeping wary, though slightly confused, eyes trained on her, lex approached and shook her hand rather tentatively. he couldn't really say that he had ever had the opportunity to interact with a demon like this before. his few encounters prior had usually been tense or bloody. not to mention that he had just finished feeding and those kinds of nerves wouldn't die down for awhile yet.
lexin was confused to say the least. in all that the demon - temperance, she called herself - had shown him of herself, he wasn't really sure that he knew anything about her. tagged: tempie • words: 264 • notes: sorry for the wait! i replied as soon as i got home from my trip ;3
