History
— Raina has never had a good perception of time. Nothing really changes for her; she's been living in the same place for as long as she can remember. She can't remember how old she is or the last time she saw her mother. If she thinks about it, Raina knows she was definitely born over a century ago. Her mother was a kind, beautiful woman and she never knew of her father. The years spent with her mother were wonderful, if she remembers correctly. She can remember a lot of laughter, motherly love, and the pond they lived in. That's it, and it's alright by her.
When she was eighteen, Raina left her mother's lovely pond home in search of her own. She spent a good week walking through the mountains until she found a calm river. It was there she made her home in a partially underwater cove. She spent her days relaxing and collecting random objects to decorate her walls. Nothing eventful happened for a long time, and that's how Raina liked it.
She had been playing with a school of fish in the river's depths when Raina heard a loud grunt and a splash. An injured elf was sinking to the bottom, nearly lifeless. Immediately she grabbed the man and swam to the surface, pulling him onto the bank. The elf had deep gashes in his side that left him incapacitated, unable to heal himself - so Raina healed the wounds herself, to the best of her abilities. The wounds left her troubled, as they appeared to be from an animal - Raina refused to believe one had done that to him, so she didn't ask about it. She sat beside the elf and hummed to herself until he woke up. When he finally came to, he was surprised to be alive. They began to talk, and, long story short, he fell in love with the innocent naiad.
Erynion tried to get Raina to accompany him to his house, but Raina couldn't leave the river. She may have had a case of agoraphobia, though in all honesty, she was terrified of something happening to her home or the river. Angry, he left, but came back weeks later and apologized. He gifted her with a blue gemstone, something he had come to know she collected. It was a teardrop-shaped stone of aquamarine, threaded on a string to make a necklace. He then told her his plans of making a house right near the river, so they could be together. After much persuasion, he managed to get her to move in with him, in a house yards from the river's edge. It was there they lived for nearly a decade, until Raina discovered she was pregnant. Erynion was revolted by the thought of Raina having a child. He always thought she would remain young and beautiful; he was in love with the naiad, not Raina herself. He didn't want anything to do with a child, so kicked Raina out and found himself a lovely elvish wife. Menacingly, Erynion told Raina that she meant nothing to him and that his new wife was twice the woman she would ever be. As naive as Raina was and still is, that certainly got to her. She ran to the sanctuary of her cove and watched as the new couple moved out of the house by the river, never to be seen again.
For a long time, Raina was heartbroken and completely torn apart inside. The elf was her first and only love to date. She put on a happy smile for her daughter, Eris, and went about her days normally, as if she had never met the elf. She recovered eventually, but there's still days when all she can think of is the look of horror and disgust on Erynion's face when he learned she was pregnant. And then the vicious way he cast her out. In the end, she forgave him, figuring they weren't meant to be.
Eris left their home in the cove when she was eighteen, just as Raina once did. Raina doesn't know where her daughter went, but she knows that, wherever she is, she's alright. It's been years since then.
